How I Do It
• GET TOGETHER
Because you are thinking of trusting me with your memories, you
will need to feel confident that I am the right person for the
job, and that we will be able to work together easily and comfortably. The
first step will
be a face-to-face, no obligation meeting.
• GET THE BIG PICTURE
You and I will need to determine the scope of the work and agree
on what the outcome should be. I suggest high quality video, on
DVD. That way you can share it by mail and digitally, by uploading
to other computers. The visuals can come from any number of sources,
including images you've shot or accumulated, both stills and video.
Or maybe you'd like me to document an event like a special birthday
or a wedding.
• GET A QUOTE
Shortly after our first meeting, I'll give you a price quote based
on our "big picture" conversation. I'll estimate the time and materials
needed to produce exactly what you expect. But please be aware
that even the best laid plans often change along the way.
In my experience, there are always changes and modifications
in the process that neither of us can anticipate. I 've learned
that there changes are almost always for the better, because the
act of creation always takes unexpected turns. Much of the joy
is in the journey.
• GET GOING
Once all materials have been digitized and the videotaping completed,
the editing process begins. I will expect you to take a look at
what we call a rough cut as the project becomes honed and polished.
The final product will be a professionally packaged DVD which can
be easily duplicated for sharing. I will show you how to upload
your video to YouTube and other social networking sites, if you
wish.
